The investigation into the murder of Karolin Hakim, the mother of young children in Malmö, is closed by the prosecutor. The evidence is not sufficient to prosecute.

The evidence is not enough to bring charges for the high-profile murder in August 2019, and there are no more investigative measures that could change that situation. This is stated by the prosecutor Lisa Åberg. P4 Malmö house was the first to report that the investigation was being closed.
– I drop the suspicions that remain in the investigation against two people for murder and aiding and abetting murder because I believe that the evidence is not sufficient for prosecution, says Lisa Åberg.
The investigation will now return to the police.
– Since there is no reasonable suspect anymore, the investigation must return to the police, says the prosecutor.
Lisa Åberg is careful to point out that there is no statute of limitations on murder and that she knows that there are people who know about the murder of Karolin Hakim but have chosen not to come forward.
– It could be that someone comes forward a little later and tells the police what they know.
Murdered outside his home four years ago
Karolin Hakim was murdered outside her home in the Ribersborg district of Malmö on August 26, 2019. According to witnesses, she was holding her child in her arms when she was shot dead. The child’s father, who survived the attack, was also present at the scene.
– We have turned over every stone, but the problem is that no one wants to talk. Many express their disgust for the crime itself, even people who are themselves in criminal circles. Nevertheless, they do not want to participate in the investigation, says Lisa Åberg to SVT Skåne and continues:
– There are people who know what happened. Even if they don’t want to say anything now, that could change. Murder is never statute-barred.
