It was the junior team’s Isac Grönhagen who started the match between the posts.
But with five minutes left in the second period, coach Thomas “Bulan” Berglund decided to substitute Sara Grahn.
It was then 4–2 to Kärpät. When the third period was over, the home team had equalized at 4–4 and taken the match to extra time.
It was goalless and Kärpät won on penalties.
Sara Grahn is one of the most meritorious women’s hockey players in Sweden. She has represented the Women’s Crowns on several occasions and won four SM gold with Luleå’s SDHL team.
