Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick also pointed to a possible Grand Theft Auto 6 release time in an interview with CNBC.
Expectations are high for Grand Theft Auto 6, given that Grand Theft Auto 5 is one of the most profitable entertainment products of all time. Fans have been waiting for GTA 6 for over a decade, and while the game has yet to be introduced to the public, fans may have a chance to play the game in the next few years.
GTA 6 has been expected for nearly a decade
Leaks have long said that the Grand Theft Auto 6 release date could be 2024, 2025 or 2026. While neither Take-Two nor Rockstar have confirmed these suspicions, CEO Strauss Zelnick pointed out that the game could potentially launch in fiscal 2025. Unless Take-Two has another massive exit plan, they expect operational performance to reach record levels at that time.
Zelnick made interesting statements
Joining CNBC, Zelnick was asked about the possible release date of Grand Theft Auto 6. Zelnick didn’t provide a direct response, instead saying, “We leave announcements about upcoming games to our brands.” said. However, Zelnick stressed that he still believes the company will earn “$8 billion in net bookings and over a billion dollars in adjusted operating cash flow by the end of fiscal 2025.”
While this is not a definitive acknowledgment that GTA 6 will be released in that fiscal year, it seems to conclusively suggest that the big new open world game will be available at that point. If so, fans can expect Grand Theft Auto 6 to launch at some point between April 2024 and March 2025.
It would make perfect sense for Grand Theft Auto 6 to launch in this window, and the game would be in line with previous leaks regarding the company’s plans. However, it is always possible that GTA 6 may be delayed and the game may be released much later than expected. If fiscal 2025 is the year Take-Two plans to release Grand Theft Auto 6, it’s reasonable to think we’ll see the game at some point in the near future.
