(Tiper Stock Exchange) – The confidence of German consumers worsens and disappoints expectations in the month of September. The GFK indexaccording to the survey conducted this month, highlights for September 2023 a value equal to -25.5 points, compared to -24.6 in August (data revised from a preliminary figure of -24.4). Reading is worse than expected of analysts, who were for a sentiment level of -24.3 points.
They also get worse expectations about the economic situation, with the indicator slipping into negative territory at -6.2 points. It also worsens the indicator on propensity to buy which drops to -17 points. The one on income expectations it fell to -11.5 points.
“Consumer confidence does not currently show a clear trend, either downward or upward,” he explains Rolf Burklan expert at the GfK Institute, mentioning the impact of inflation and admitting “the chances that consumer confidence can recover sustainably before the end of this year are increasingly diminishing”.
