The person behind the Starfield gameplay leak has been arrested. Darin Tyrone Harris has faced multiple charges.
The person who leaked footage of the Starfield game earlier this week was arrested. Weeks before the official release of Starfield, Bethesda Game Studios’ space travel action role-playing game, Starfield gameplay footage began circulating online, about 40 minutes early.
This isn’t the first time Starfield has experienced this leak situation.
Leaks of high-profile games like Starfield can make using the internet challenging for those who want to experience the game first hand. When such leaks go viral, it can become nearly impossible to navigate online without seeing something with spoilers.
This isn’t the first leak Starfield has been exposed to. Notable story leaks were also leaked online. Internet trolls try to entice fans to look at spoiler footage, as any link becomes risky in these circumstances. In addition, it is already known that this is more in the highly anticipated games.
But now the real issue is a little different. The person behind the Starfield gameplay leak has been arrested. He is facing multiple charges, according to the Recently Booked website. Darin Tyrone Harris, known on YouTube as DHavenShadow, allegedly stole several copies from his workplace and then shared the footage online. He then shared a short review video in which he showed his face and praised the game.
It is unknown what move Bethesda will make.
The exact circumstances leading to his arrest are unknown, but the leaker faces three charges. These include theft of up to $1,000, theft of $2500 to $10,000, and possession of marijuana, a substance controlled in the state of Tennessee. It is unknown at this stage whether Microsoft or Bethesda will take legal action against the leaker.
Some players may find it uncomfortable to see that the leaker is in the hands of the law. Unfortunately, that doesn’t remove the footage from the internet or make us see any less of the controversy surrounding the leaked Starfield information. The internet may have turned into a spoiler-filled minefield. But thankfully, Starfield fans won’t have to wait long. Bethesda has announced the exact release times during which players will be able to experience the game worldwide. Of course, this does not prevent further leaks in the future. However, considering that Starfield is coming in less than 2 weeks, it looks like there won’t be much of a problem.
