France 2 is making its comeback with a bang. The second channel is programming this Monday, August 28, 2023 the first episodes of daughters of fire. This event mini-series in six episodes is broadcast every Monday evening from 9:10 p.m. until September 11, with two episodes per evening.

This new fiction that revisits the myth of the wicked witch (as Mona Chollet deconstructed it in her essay Witches: The Undefeated Power of Women) is freely inspired by the witch hunt led by Judge Pierre de Lancre in the Basque Country in 1609. We follow several women from a family of abortionist-healers in the 17th century, each more different than the next, hunted for witchcraft.

In the casting, viewers will recognize the faces of Guillaume de Tonquédec in the skin of a local lord, Bruno Debrandt in that of the formidable judge of Lancre, Michèle Laroque, but also Angela Molina, Anabel Lopez, Lizzie Brocheré or even Zoé Adjani-Vallat , niece of the famous actress Isabelle Adjani, in the roles of the women of this persecuted family.

Daughters of Fire – on the TV program on Mondays from August 28, 2023.
