On Friday, Theodor Thor broke a new European record when he won the javelin competition in 71.00. He was just over three meters ahead of the runner-up, Masetti from Italy.
A little later on the same day, Simon Sharapo came second in the 200 meters after an incredibly even fight with Golebiowski from Poland. Both had a time of 21.60, which is a new Nordic record for Sharapo, but the finish photo showed that three thousandths separated them both in favor of the Pole. Sharapo had to settle for silver.
In total, during the competitions, Sweden took home five medals – three gold and two silver.
