Ella Junnila reached a shared 13th place in the height final in Budapest. Junnila’s result was recorded as 190.
Junnila dropped the first two out of 194 more clearly, but the third was the best attempt.
Junnila has exceeded this height the last time in the hall two years ago in February. It has been four years since the previous crossing.
– A little disappointed, because the jumps felt really good. I have to think more closely with the coach, what is causing them to drip so badly. They were clearly better than the other day, Junnila told .
Junnila made history, because the last time a Finnish woman was in the high jump final was 40 years ago.
– For me personally, it’s a step and a step forward. When basic jumping is enough for the finals, then you know I’m on the right path, Junnila says.
The native of Tampere believes that he will reach higher heights when he gets to hone his technique during each of his competitions.

Finland’s record holder (196) has jumped at her best 192 in France this season. He has been satisfied with the technical changes made by the coach Tuomas Sallinen with.
– It has clearly borne fruit. This was the 5th competition I’ve jumped at this speed and now that jump stays at a good level. I’m really happy with it.
Junnila’s last jump from a height of 190 was very airy. Coach Tuomas Sallinen was of the opinion that he would have been able to overcome the height of 194 with that.
– In no case can you be disappointed. It was a tough place for Ella, as she was out for the first time in the prize competition final. Of course, more would have been taken, Sallinen stated.
Sallinen has been Junnila’s coach for two years now. According to him, Junnila’s final performances show good development.
– We are going to the European Championship with tough goals, but we will let Ella set them herself.
On indoor tracks, Junnila has won European Championship bronze in Poland in March 2021.
