This week, several countries have announced that they want to send F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is now launching a verbal attack after the announcement – and is pointing out Sweden.
– All these steps confirm the hostile attitude of the Westerners towards Russia, says the ministry’s spokesperson Maria Zacharova.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zacharova goes on a verbal attack against several European countries after the announcement that F-16 fighter jets may be sent to Ukraine.
The state-controlled news agency Tass writes that she singles out the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Three of the countries have recently stated that F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine may become relevant, but not Sweden.
The Social Democrats opened this week to send the Jas Gripen to Ukraine, something that other Riksdag parties also support, according to reports.
– Last week news came after Zelensky’s “begging visit” to European countries, including the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and Sweden, that the countries intend to provide Kiev with F-16 fighter jets, Maria Zacharova said in a statement.
The spokesperson singles out Sweden despite the fact that the country has not made any decisions about fighter aircraft.
– All these steps confirm the hostile attitude of the Westerners towards Russia and their increased involvement in the conflict around Ukraine, she says further.
She also accuses countries in the West of urging Ukraine to carry out attacks on Russian soil. Zacharova also calls the government of Ukraine “criminal”.
