The detained 15-year-old received police protection – became a suspect himself

The case first began as a report of two missing 14-year-olds.
One of them, Layth, was placed in a family home and the other in a HVB home in Nyköping. Both disappeared between July 24 and 25 from their respective residences.

The one 14-year-old was found dead on the evening of July 29 by members of the public in a wooded area in Ösmo in Nynäshamn municipality. According to information to TV4 Nyheterna, the boy had been stabbed and had been subjected to severe violence.

Almost a month after the disappearances, the second boy, 14-year-old Layth, was found by mushroom pickers on August 18 in an outdoor area in Upplands-Bro. According to information to TV4 Nyheterna, there were signs of a crime on the body, which they also allegedly tried to hide.

The police’s main theory for the double murder, which is said to have taken place in brutal ways, is that the 14-year-olds were killed because of two missing pistols.

Boys received protection from the police

According to information to TV4 Nyheterna, both boys together with a 15-year-old have been involved in the storage of these weapons for the “Kurdish Fox”. When the network found out that the guns were missing, the 14-year-olds became victims of crime.

– The motive is believed to be that, when the weapons disappeared, the network wanted to set a deterrent example to other “running boys” and young people who are used by the gang, says a source.

In connection with that, before the bodies had been found, the 15-year-old along with at least two other teenage boys should have received threats, according to TV4 Nyhetern’s information. They are said to have been threatened by people acting for the Foxtrot network and that the gang members were also after them because of the missing guns.

Arrested for aiding and abetting – after the threats

Among other things, the boys who were threatened with death received pictures of the now-murdered 14-year-olds sent to them along with other threats in chats.

The police activated their unit that works with the protection of threatened persons and helped the teenagers. Some of the boys’ relatives were also subjected to threats.

After investigative work and questioning, suspicions emerged that one of the three threatened boys, the 15-year-old, had been involved in Layth’s murder. He was therefore arrested on 9 August and later detained on suspicion of aiding and abetting.

Prosecutor Hanna Cardell, who leads the murder investigations, does not want to confirm TV4 Nyheterna’s information or that there are additional plaintiffs connected to the cases.

The police are looking for more suspects in the cases, which deal with the murder of children who were apparently exploited by criminal networks.
