They thus offer Noah Lyles, their last runner, a third gold medal in Budapest after his titles in the 100 and 200 m, and Sha’Carri Richardson his second title after the 100 m. In 37”38, the Americans beat Italy of Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs (37”62) and Jamaica (37”76), while France took 6th place (38”06). The Americans won in 41”03, a championship record, ahead of Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson (41”21), and Great Britain (41”97).
