The United States is imposing sanctions on a number of Russian individuals and organizations over allegations of child abduction from Ukraine.
– The United States will not be passive while Russia carries out these war crimes and crimes against humanity, says US UN Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield.
Now the US issues sanctions against, among other things, eleven Russian citizens, some of whom work with children’s rights.
According to Ukrainian authorities and human rights organizations, thousands of children have been abducted from Ukraine by Russian forces since the invasion began.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague has issued an international arrest warrant for, among others, Russian President Vladimir Putin for involvement in the kidnappings.
Russia has categorically denied the allegations.
