Karolin Westberg had 2 children just seven months apart

There are many amazing pregnancy stories. But this one is something really special. In June, twelve years ago, Melina was born. In week 35, five weeks earlier than expected. Seven months later, Yasmin arrived, already in week 26.

– It would have been eleven months apart, but the other wanted to come out far too early and meet everyone else.

When Karolina received the news that she was pregnant with Yasmin, she could hardly believe it was true.

– At first I didn’t believe it at all. The first came too soon, and then the hormonal balance has not returned to the body. So we ran an ultrasound: “Tomorrow it will be 12 weeks”. Then we said we are driving.

Has a special bond

Today the children are 12 years old, are healthy and are like other siblings.

– They are two completely different individuals. They go to different classes and have their own little groups of friends and stuff like that.

But some twin tendencies, Karolin believes, might still exist.

– But they have a special bond. They have always had that and have always been close. The secrets stay between them.

Karolin is involved in many different parenting groups. When they are told how little time passed between the children, they hardly believe it is possible.

– It’s nothing to strive for, but it works.

Around 7,000 children are born prematurely, or prematurely, in Sweden each year, according to Karolinska University Hospital. For the baby to be considered premature, it must be born before week 37.
