Better situation ahead of autumn electricity production: “Storm Hans has helped”

There are several factors that contribute to the fact that electricity production is better now than a year ago, when electricity broke price records.

– We have more wind power production in electricity area 3, electricity production in our neighboring countries looks better and we have no transmission difficulties, says Elin Larsson, analyst at the Swedish Energy Agency.

The storm Hans has also contributed to the situation being better before the autumn, filled water reservoirs act as a reserve for the hydropower.

– It has rained in the right places so the magazines are better filled than they were last year.

“Hopefully lower price”

What the electricity will cost in the autumn depends on the use and electricity production, but the conditions are there for last year’s sky-high prices to not have to be repeated. In August 2022, the average price of electricity in electricity area 3, Svealand and Norra Götaland, was almost three kroner per kilowatt hour (kWh).

– We will probably see varying prices, but hopefully the average value will be lower this year, says Elin Larsson.
