Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa attended the BRICS summit held in Johannesburg, South Africa. Russian leader Putin, who attended the summit via video conference, made flash statements about the war in Ukraine.
“WE ARE AGAINST ALL KIND OF HEGEMONIA”
Russian President Vladimir Putin attended the BRICS summit held in Johannesburg, South Africa, via videoconference. Stating that BRICS has become a structure that constantly increases its influence in the global arena, Putin said, “Our Union has a strategic route towards the future and meets the demands of the vast majority of the international community, that is, the majority of the world. Acting in coordination with the principles of equality, support and protecting each other’s interests, “We are dealing with the most pressing issues of the regional agenda,” he said. Stressing that the BRICS countries support the multipolar world order, Putin said, “We are against any kind of hegemony that some countries promote based on their own privileges and which is based on the policy of maintaining neo-colonialism.”
“WE WANT TO END THE WAR STARTED BY THE WEST”
Stating that the desire for hegemony has caused a serious crisis in Ukraine, Putin said, “First, a coup was carried out in this country with the help of Western countries, and then a brutal war has been waged for 8 years against those who did not accept this coup. Russia is a people who fight for their culture, traditions, language and future. “Our actions in Ukraine are based on only one goal, to end the war launched by the West and its Ukrainian satellites against the people living in Donbass,” he said.
“USE OF NATIONAL CURRENCY SHOULD BE EXPANDED”
Thanking the BRICS countries working for the resolution of the Ukraine crisis, Putin said, “The important thing is that we all support a truly just and multipolar world order based on international law.” Referring to the trade volume between BRICS countries, Putin said, “In the last 10 years, the investments of BRICS countries in the global economy have doubled and their total exports have reached 20 percent of the world market.” Putin stressed that the BRICS countries should expand the use of their national currencies and improve cooperation between banks. “We will contribute to the more comprehensive implementation of the BRICS economic partnership strategy until 2025 and the development of new long-term guidelines. These include increasing the role of our countries in the international monetary and financial system, improving inter-bank cooperation, expanding the use of national currencies, tax, customs and taxation,” Putin said. We see the need to deepen the cooperation between the anti-monopoly authorities,” he said.
