A 16-year-old Perth East resident has been charged with the sexual assault of a person younger than 16 years old after an investigation began earlier this month.

The investigation began after officers with the Perth County OPP were contacted on Aug. 14. The complainant reportedly suffered minor injuries, Perth County OPP officials said.
The accused, who cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is scheduled to appear at the Ontario court of justice in Stratford at a later date.
