Former ambassador Anders Lidén becomes the new chairman of the Truth Commission for the Sami people. He begins the assignment on September 1.

The truth commission must survey and review the policy that has been carried out towards the Sami in a historical perspective and its consequences for the Sami people. The committee must present its final report on 1 December 2025.

The Ministry of Culture has appointed Anders Lidén to succeed Kerstin Calissendorff, who chose to end the assignment at her own request. Anders Lidén has a doctorate in political science and has previously been ambassador in Helsinki, Harare and Tel Aviv, among others. He has also been ambassador at Sweden’s permanent representation at the UN in New York, according to a press release.
