The discharge into the sea of treated water from the damaged Fukushima power plant will begin on Thursday August 24, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced after a final meeting with fishermen in the Fukushima region, still opposed to the discharge of the ‘water. The operation was validated in July by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and should last around thirty years.
