Wagner conductor Yevgeny Prigozhin has appeared on a video – for the first time since the aborted coup attempt in Russia during the midsummer weekend, the BBC writes.

In the video clip, which Prigozhin posted on Telegram, he signals that he is in Africa together with a number of Wagner soldiers.

In the film, the 62-year-old Wagner leader is seen standing in a desert area in camouflage clothing with a rifle in his hands. In the distance, more armed men and a pickup can be seen.

– We make sure to make Russia bigger on all continents and Africa more free, Prigozhin declares in the clip.

The Wagner leader adds that the group recruits soldiers so that the forces “can carry out the tasks we have been assigned – and which we promised to succeed in”.

Since the aborted coup attempt during the Midsummer weekend, it has been unclear where Yevgeny Prigozhin was.
