Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy continues his visit to Denmark today after yesterday’s announcement that the country is donating 19 F-16 planes to Ukraine.
During the morning, the Ukrainian president will, among other things, visit the parliament and then meet Queen Margrethe at Christiansborg Castle for an early lunch.
At At 12.15 Zelenskyy gives a public speech on the steps of the parliament. The event is surrounded by strict security arrangements – and, among other things, the audience is not allowed to bring any bags into the venue, writes Ritzau.
The speech will also be shown on a large screen at Slottstorget near the Norwegian parliament.
The visit to Denmark follows Sunday’s announcement that the country, together with the Netherlands, is donating a number of F-16 planes to Ukraine. From the Danish side, it is about 19 aircraft, but it is still uncertain exactly when the planes can be delivered.
Zelenskyj landed on Sunday afternoon at an air base in southern Jutland, where he was received by Prime Minister Mette Fredriksen, Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Defense Minister Jakob Ellemann-Jensen and Crown Princess Mary.
Zelensky’s wife, Olena Zelenska, is also on the Denmark visit. In a post on the platform X, formerly Twitter, she thanks Denmark for its support to Ukraine.
“We are happy to be here to strengthen the ties and friendship between our countries,” she writes in the post.
On Sunday evening, Olena Zelenska also visited the evening service in Haderslev Cathedral together with Crown Princess Mary.
