The fantasy film deals with the story of the beast of Gévaudan

In this version of the story, the scientist Grégoire de Fronsac (Samuel Le Bihan) and his follower, the Iroquois Mani (Mark Dacascos), are sent by the king to get to the bottom of the bloody events. During their investigation, they stumble upon a decadent nobleman (Vincent Cassel), a fanatical priest (Jean-François Stévenin), a courtesan (Monica Bellucci) and a mystical secret society.

The handsome effects used a mix of CGI and animatronic puppets from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, which previously brought to life projects as diverse as The Dinosaurs, The Witches, and The Dark Crystal. With that, Gans and his team created one dark fantasy film on Hollywood levelwho was also making waves in the US (and recommended Goose for the job on the Silent Hill film adaptation).
