Google-owned Fitbit took an important step forward and recalled more than a million Fitbit Ionic smartwatches after reports that overheated batteries caused burns, according to the CPSC, the US consumer safety regulatory agency.

“If you own a Fitbit Ionic, please stop using your device. This voluntary recall does not affect other Fitbit smartwatches or activity trackers,” Fitbit said in a statement.
According to the statements, when users return their Fitbit Ionics, they will receive a $299 refund from Fitbit and a 40 percent discount that can be used on selected Fitbit devices will be defined.
The Fitbit Ionic was launched in September 2017. The smartwatch offered features such as heart rate and sleep tracking, as well as activity tracking.
