X (Formerly Twitter), owned by Elon Musk, is now on the agenda with a new feature claim. According to Engadget’s report, X seems to be working on new authentication features. Application researcher Nima Owji shared a screenshot on the subject.
ADDITIONAL VERIFICATION FEATURE FOR X!
According to the shared screenshot, the platform is now working on an additional verification feature that requires users to upload a copy of their government-issued ID and take a selfie.
Owji is said to have first seen an “ID verified” badge on Musk’s profile earlier this month.
Now he has reportedly discovered an in-app message detailing how this works.
This could allegedly indicate that the feature is nearing its release.
In the screenshot, “Verify your account by providing a government-issued ID. This usually takes about 5 minutes.” appears to be included.
Additionally, the screenshot explains that users will be required to provide a photo of their ID and a selfie.
According to the caption at the bottom of the screenshot, X is partnering with a third-party authentication company, Au10tix, for this feature. The post states that the information shared for verification will be seen by Au10tix as well as X.
According to the post, X will store identity images, including biometric data, for up to 30 days and use the information for safety and security purposes, including preventing counterfeiting.
