A new video by “Julien Bam” impressively shows how much quality there is on YouTube. It rains praise and lots of upvotes.
Many have now turned their backs on German YouTube. “Trash TV” style videos and pranks of some kind have driven away numerous viewers. But there are a few pearls in the German area that stand out clearly even in a global comparison. One of them is Julien Bam with his “main videos”, which meanwhile tell a whole saga.
The latest part of the series, “The Man in the Moon – Act 1 (Songs from the Bean)” was published yesterday on August 19, 2023 and immediately took German YouTube by storm.
What is the series about? The “Songs from the Bean” saga now includes 9 main videos and a whole series of smaller offshoots. Telling the whole story might take a little while, because the “JCU”, the “Julien Cinematic Universe” is now quite extensive and intertwined.
At its core, however, it is all about magic beans. When consumed, they give you certain “super powers” – you can suddenly imitate the musical style of a certain musician perfectly and magically get out of sticky situations.
Especially when you look at the first videos of the series, which are now 4 years old and compare them with the newer videos, it becomes obvious how much the quality has increased again. In addition to quite impressive effects, such as crashing spaceships or impressive tracking shots, the series still retains the wacky and sometimes somewhat childish humor.
Another trademark is that Julien keeps incorporating other YouTubers and musicians. In the latest installment, for example, you can see the (notorious) Money Boy as a nasty alien boss or Younes Jones or Sturmwaffel in various supporting roles.
Here’s how the community is reacting: In German YouTube, the videos always hit like a bomb. Just 5 hours after publication, the current “The Man in the Moon” had more than 700,000 views and almost 170,000 upvotes, with fewer than 1,000 dislikes.
In the meantime, 22 hours after the release, the number of views has risen to 1,500,000.
The latest video is celebrated in the comments and above all the high quality is praised. A few excerpts from the comments:
The comments and the ratio of likes to dislikes speak a clear language here. This is obviously one of the best that “YouTube Germany” currently has to offer. Whether you like the parodied music or not, the quality of the production has to be appreciated.
What do you think of the series?
A few days ago, Julien Bam explained how expensive the video was.
