The United States approved the sending of American-made F-16s to Ukraine in order to increase its defense power against Russia. In a statement made by a US official, it was stated that Foreign Minister Antony Blinken sent letters to his Danish and Dutch counterparts assuring that their requests for F-16s to Ukraine be approved.
WILL BE SENT AFTER THE TRAININGS
According to the decision taken by the USA, Denmark and the Netherlands will send their warplanes to the country after the training of Ukrainian pilots is completed.
Dutch Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra said that they welcomed Washington’s decision to send F-16 warplanes to Ukraine and said, “We will discuss the issue in more detail with our European partners.”
Danish Defense Minister Jakob Ellemann-Jensen said in a statement that they discussed the issue with close allies and that he expects more concrete steps to be taken in the near future.
F-16 TRAINING HAS STARTED
US President Joe Biden approved that Ukrainian pilots receive F-16 training in May, and 11 countries started to provide F-16 training to Ukrainian pilots in Denmark. Denmark and the Netherlands are leading international efforts, such as training pilots, maintaining aircraft and sending F-16s to Ukraine. (UAV)
