Arla lowers the price of all dairy products by ten percent

From Monday 21 August, Arla will reduce the prices of dairy products by an average of ten percent. This is confirmed by Max Wallenberg, press manager at Arla, for TV4 Nyheterna.
– By lowering the prices, we hope that more consumers can afford our products, so that the farmers can continue to run their farms, he says.

According to Max Wallenberg, Arla, which is owned by Swedish farmers, lowers prices by an average of ten percent partly so that more consumers can afford to buy the company’s dairy products and partly so that the farmers can continue to run their businesses.

– Many consumers have had a tough time for a long period and may not choose Swedish goods. It has affected Swedish farmers, he says.

The price reduction that applies to all goods may vary in size from product to product. The reduction applies to hundreds of products and, according to Max Wallenberg, the hope is that more people will start buying Arla’s products – which ultimately means that farmers get more money in their wallets.

The stores that set the prices

However, it should be noted that it is the stores that set the prices for their products, as well as for Arla’s dairy products.

– What is important to remember is that the stores set the prices. We can never decide what a store can charge for our goods, says Max Wallenberg.

Food price check: Surprising and big

Ulf Mazur, CEO of Matpriskollen, says that the price reduction is both surprising and large. He hopes it hits the stores as soon as possible.

– It is surprising and large when it comes to so many products. The dairy and cheese categories account for as much as 15-20 percent of the store’s turnover, so a price reduction here has a positive effect on the Swedish people and it is good for the stores, who get to sell more products, he says.

– I therefore hope that Arla’s price reduction will make an impact in the stores very quickly.
