Ritschard after the collapse: Thank you and sorry

The post is illustrated with an image from the famous painting Karl XII’s funeral by Gustaf Cederström, where the dead king lies on a bier carried by his soldiers back to Sweden after being shot to death in Norway in 1718.

It was last Tuesday evening that David Ritschard himself had to be carried on a stretcher, out of the Solliden stage after he collapsed during the live broadcast of “Allsång på Skansen”.

The incident comes a few months after David Ritschard a few months earlier could be seen collapsing in the TV show “Jill’s porch” in SVT and was forced to cancel the recording.
“I don’t think anyone has ever broken down twice in public service within the space of six months in Sweden, but feels fine under the circumstances. Thank you & sorry,” writes Ritschard on Instagram.

The incident in “Allsång på Skansen” sparked a debate about whether SVT should have stopped the artist from performing. It was dismissed by SVT’s CEO Hanna Stjärne.

– A lot can happen in live broadcasting and it was handled very professionally, she told TT the day after the incident.

Toured extensively

David Ritschard has toured extensively this summer and has the next gig booked in Copenhagen on August 24. There is no information yet that that gig would be postponed.
