The Danish National Police has extended the random checks of travelers from Sweden and Germany, on the recommendation of the Danish Security Police (PET).

The intensified operation began on August 3 and involves random checks of people traveling to Denmark from Sweden and Germany.

The operation has been extended a couple of times since its introduction and the new decision means that the Danish National Police extends the operation at the internal Danish borders even further, until 22 August.

The reason is the development of the current threat picture. According to Chief Police Inspector Peter Ekebjærg, the measure can have a preventive effect.

“Maintaining the intensified efforts at the border is a security measure to prevent people who pose a threat to national security from entering the country,” he says in a press release.
