Finland’s former Prime Minister Alexander Stubb now confirms that he is standing as a presidential candidate next winter.
– When the motherland calls, you stand up, says Stubb at a press conference, Hufvudstadsbladet reports.
The announcement was expected since the bourgeois Samlingspartiet chairman Petteri Orpo on Monday got a unanimous party board behind the proposal.
Formally, Stubb will be nominated at a meeting this autumn.
