During the morning, the police received an alert that a man was behaving erratically in Norrköping. At the scene, the police found a suspected dangerous object in connection with the person.
– We are checking this person and at the same time we are checking an object that is some distance away. We make a quick assessment that the object may be dangerous, says police spokesperson Marcus Anefur.
The man has been arrested on suspicion of preparation for public destruction as well as gross violation of the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods.
– We can connect the person and the object, says the police.
Large area cordoned off
A large area in Lindö has been cordoned off and the national bomb disposal unit is on its way to investigate and deal with the object.
It is unclear whether the incident is connected to recent serious violent crimes in the city.
– First, we must establish what kind of object it is. Within the framework of that, we are looking at whether this could be connected to the previous events that took place in Norrköping, says Marcus Anefur.
