Police and an ambulance rushed to a residential area in Kalix municipality shortly before midnight following an alarm about a serious crime.
An injured woman was found in a residence. Her life could not be saved.
A man who was at the scene was arrested on suspicion of murder. On Tuesday morning he was arrested.

According to information to TV4 Nyheterna, the woman was stabbed to death.
The murder suspect and the victim have a relationship, the police confirm. Both the man and the woman are 55 years old and previously unpunished, according to TV4 Nyhetern’s information.
The police have cordoned off the murder scene and worked on Tuesday morning with a forensic investigation.
The woman’s relatives have been informed, according to the police.
