A grenade and a revolver were pulled out of Svartån in Örebro on Sunday. The items were found by a child and an adult.
– They were marked by the ravages of time, then I can’t say what that means in time, says police spokesperson Rasmus Eriksson.
During Saturday, the police received a call from members of the Örebro bottenskrasförening association, who were magnet fishing in Svartån. They had recovered two items, which later turned out to be a grenade and a revolver, says police spokesperson Rasmus Eriksson.
The grenade and the revolver were found by a child who was out by the river with his parent.
A large part of Trädgårdsgatan, between Ågatan and Vasabron, was blocked off for large parts of Sunday, while the national bomb shelter was waiting, but at 17.30 the restrictions were lifted.
The weapons seized
– Now we have had the national bomb protection in place, which has taken care of this dangerous object which is some type of grenade. There was also a revolver and it has been seized.
The weapons appear to have been in the water for a long time and there is currently no suspicion of crime or any connection to any previous crimes.
– They seem to have been in the water for a long time, so there is no spontaneous speculation that it can be connected to anything. They were marked by the ravages of time, then I can’t say what that means in time. But they have been in the water for a long time anyway, says police spokesperson Rasmus Eriksson.
Will report
The police will now file a report on flammable and explosive goods, and a report on weapons offenses regarding the revolver.
– There is no suspect, but to be able to take coercive measures for seizure, you need to write a report, says Rasmus Eriksson.
