Israel denounces plans to exchange prisoners between the United States

An agreement in principle is in the air, between the United States and Iran, relating to an exchange of prisoners but also providing for a thawing of Iranian assets blocked in particular in South Korea. It would be a sum of more than six billion dollars. The final agreement could be concluded by the end of September. From now on, the Israeli government denounces the project.

For Israel, any deal with Tehran that does not include the dismantling of Iran’s nuclear program is unacceptable. The Israeli position on this point is known, underlines a press release published by the office of the Prime Minister.

The funds that will be released to Iran under this agreement will ultimately be used for acts of terrorism sponsored by Tehran, the Netanyahu government still believes.

On the other hand, two Israeli officials quoted by the media, in Israel and the United States, say that the exchange of American-Iranian prisoners was part of a broader set of agreements between Tehran and Washington, on a informal arrangement to limit Iran’s nuclear program.

For Amos Yadlin, former head of military intelligence for the Israeli army, Israeli officials do not really react to this information because of the discord linked to the reform of the judicial system.

This agreement in principle between the United States and Iran demonstrates that Washington no longer takes into account the Israeli government and its leader, Benyamin Netanyahu, believes opposition leader Yair Lapid.
