German campers raised the alarm last Friday – found remains

It was last Friday that two German tourists raised the alarm that they had found human bone remains and a shoe where they had camped in the forest in the municipality of Dals-Ed.
– The police patrol takes the pieces of leg and the shoe to the police station and they start a preliminary investigation into suspected murder, says Thomas Fuxborg, press spokesperson at the police.

At 21.30 last Friday evening, the police received a call from a canoe rental company in the municipality of Dals-Ed in Västra Götaland. His clients, two German tourists, had contacted him saying they had found what they believed to be human remains.

– They camp at the place where they think they found human bones, or a human bone and a shoe. Then we have a hunter who looks at these pictures and he doesn’t think it looks like animals, says Thomas Fuxborg, press spokesperson for the police.

Initiates preliminary investigation into murder

A police patrol is sent to the scene near a hiking trail at Nössemark. The patrol spontaneously thinks that it is an animal bone, but since they also found a shoe next to the bone, they contact the on-duty investigative leader.

– The police patrol takes the pieces of leg and the shoe to the police station. And they start a preliminary investigation into suspected murder.

The remains of the bones are to be examined by the forensic unit.

– Our technicians will look at it first, we’ll see what they come up with, says Thomas Fuxborg.
