Axelina and her two husbands Benny and Erik live together and share a bed. A slightly unusual solution, which the trio says works best for them.
– It’s not complicated, we’re like a normal family, says Benny.
Axelina and Benny had lived together as a married couple for 14 years when things began to strain in the relationship. They both chose to separate and Benny moved out of their shared house.
In the same vein, Axelina began spending more time with an old acquaintance, Erik, with whom she found a deep friendship that also developed into love. But she couldn’t let go of her husband Benny.
– In the end I felt so terribly bad that I said I couldn’t choose, says Axelina in Nyhetsmorgon.
“The first thought is no”
When she couldn’t choose between the two men, she told them they had to make a choice – she wanted both. And so it became.
– The first thought is no, it doesn’t work, you can’t live like this. We know of no one else who does. But with a little time to think, you think that we live for ourselves and we don’t care so much about what others think, says Erik.
The three of them now live together in a large house with their six children together. The family has chosen to talk openly about living polyamorously and tries to loosen the prejudices that exist about their family formation.
Common questions are about the children and sex life
Axelina, Benny and Erik often get questions about how the children take it all, but have not experienced that there has been any problem.
– They wouldn’t want it any other way, says Axelina.
They also get a lot of questions about their sex life. The only thing they agree on is that they sleep in the same bed, but Erik and Benny do not have a relationship with each other. They don’t go out with more than that out of consideration for the children.
– You don’t ask the neighbor about their sex life, but we do, says Erik.
