A man in his 20s died after a traffic accident on the E6 during the night of Sunday.
– We received a call at midnight about a car driving in the wrong direction on the E6. On the way there, we receive a new call that a car drove into the center barrier and overturned and drove into a truck and it was then that car that drove in the wrong direction, says Patrik Sönnerstedt, officer on duty at the rescue service.
The man traveling in the car was alone and it is unknown why his car crossed into the wrong lane. He was taken by ambulance to hospital and pronounced dead, says Sara Lund, duty officer at the police.
Relatives have been notified.
The accident happened on the E6 at the height of Himle in the municipality of Varberg and the road was closed for a long time.
– It is a complicated accident scene with a lot of diesel leakage and major traffic impact. We still have a diversion in the northbound direction, but the traffic has been released in the southbound direction, says Patrik Sönnerstedt.
The police have started a preliminary investigation into gross negligence in traffic.
