When the period 17 June to 11 August is summed up, Soltoppen shows a sun-poor summer.
Not even the sunniest place of the summer reached over 600 hours, which all the places in the top three have done in recent years.
Visby had the most hours of sunshine with 549 hours.
Every year, TV4 Nyheterna compiles which locations received the most hours of sunshine during the summer.
This year, Visby won with 549 hours, followed by Öland’s northern cape with 514 hours and Karlskrona with 510 hours.
– As usual, it is places along the coast that end up at the top of Soltoppen, says TV4 Nyhetern’s meteorologist Peter Kondrup.
The places with the fewest hours of sunshine were Kiruna (384 hours), Lund (383), Växjö (363), Gothenburg (337), Östersund (283), Tarfala (269) and Storlien (216).

“Sunless summer”
In the last four years, the hours of sunshine have been significantly more – every year the top three in Soltoppen have had over 600 hours of sunshine.
– Compared to the last three years, the numbers are quite low, it has been a relatively sunny summer, says Peter Kondrup.
This year’s hours of sunshine pale even more when compared to the hot and dry summer of 2018.
That year, the winner Öland’s northern cape got 726 hours of sunshine, and Norrköping, which came in tenth place, got 631 hours.
