Rockstar Games is buying a game changing studio

As Rockstar Games prepares to release the Nintendo Switch and PS4 versions of Red Dead Redemption, the studio has just made a major announcement, namely the acquisition of Cfx.re, which is none other than the team behind the most large roleplay community at the origin of GTA RP. It is also thanks to them that GTA Online was able to find a second wind, with this roleplay approach which has made it possible to build a solid reputation. Cfx.re had also set up software, FiveM, which made it possible to create private servers and add scripts and mods to them. Aware of the work done by these GTA enthusiasts, Rockstar Games simply decided to hire them all and integrate them into the GTA 6 development team. Incredible recognition for this small team who did this in their free time and who will be able to extend their know-how on the next games of the starred firm. Obviously, we think of everything that will be able to be done on GTA 6 and the monster possibilities in terms of online play.

Here is the official press release from Rockstar Games:

Today, we’re proud to announce that Cfx.re – the team behind leading RPG and creator communities Rockstar, FiveM and RedM – is now officially part of Rockstar Games.

Over the past few years, we’ve watched with excitement as Rockstar’s creative community finds new ways to expand the possibilities of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, including through the creation of dedicated role-playing servers. To further support these efforts, we recently expanded our mod policy to officially include those created by the roleplaying creative community.

By partnering with the Cfx.re team, we’ll help them find new ways to support this amazing community and improve the services they provide to their developers and players.

We look forward to sharing more in the weeks and months to come.
