Tourists flock to the site – “Dangerous”

Tourists flock to the site Dangerous

The train clock track outside Hudiksvall attracts unauthorized persons.

The last carriage of the train is unstable and there is a risk of a landslide.

– It is easy to get in the way and we have another accident, says Anna-Pia Lingemyr, head of unit at the Swedish Transport Administration.

On Monday, an SJ train derailed outside Hudiksvall after the rainy weather caused the embankment to collapse. The Swedish Transport Administration plans to lift the train back onto the rails with the help of cranes.

– We will do it during the weekend. We needed to build a road to the accident site to be able to bring in the lifting cranes. It is a complicated lift and the work has been going on around the clock, says Anna-Pia Lingemyr, head of unit at the Swedish Transport Administration.

The last train carriage is unstable and there is a risk of a slide. But despite this, there are many unauthorized people who try to get to the accident site for a closer look.

– It’s dangerous. The interest is very high. It is both journalists and private individuals who try to get closer to the train. I was told it’s called accident site tourism, she says and continues:

– This is an accident site, a track area and a workplace where a recovery is in progress. You should not disturb those who work there.

The forecast for when train traffic can again travel on the site is estimated for Friday next week.
