– It’s incredibly cool that Sweden is in the World Cup semi-finals, says Fotbollskanalen’s columnist, Olof Lundh, and continues:
– Very strong that you are making such an effort against Japan. Game-wise, it wasn’t so good against the USA, but here it was incredibly good.
The columnist is hopeful as he looks ahead to Tuesday’s semi-final meeting against Spain, which will be played in Auckland, New Zealand.
– If Sweden sets up its defensive game and pressure like they did against Japan, then they have every chance of making it to the final.
There were many who doubted that Sweden would beat Japan considering how strong the Japanese were during their matches in the WC. But somehow the Swedes manage to outplay them for 60-65 minutes.
– You let them into the match and take the margins with you, just like you had in the match against the USA. You must have a little fluency.
What awaits the national team in the next few days?
– These are the usual routines. On Saturday, there will be training for those who did not play. The others are rehabbing and loading up for the game to be played at Eden Park in Oakland on Tuesday.
Hopefully no players are injured. They reload and hope to take this gold that has been chased since 1984, when they last won WC gold.
Now Sweden is only 90 minutes away from a WC final in Sydney.
