Criminal Minds Lead Man Says Show Is His ‘Biggest Public Mistake’

Criminal Minds revolves around a seven-person special unit of the FBI that creates criminal profiles for serial killers and deals with their most gruesome deeds. Patinkin played Jason Gideon, the troupe’s boss, from 2005 to 2007. Years later he revealed how much he regrets the role. He told New York Magazine in 2011:

Criminal Minds was my biggest public blunder. I didn’t expect all these women to be raped and killed there, day in, day out, week after week, year after year. It destroyed my soul and personality. The effect [der Serie] worries me. For many viewers, these are bedtime stories. But you shouldn’t dream of something like that.
