Sebastian Laband woke up to sad news after the floods in Åre.
Now the pizzeria he is mainly responsible for is being forced to close.
– It’s not fun at all, he says to TV4 Nyheterna.
At 4 o’clock on Monday evening, Susabäcken in Åre municipality flooded, which led to great devastation.
In the morning, the danger was considered to be over in Åre by – but in the afternoon, several areas were still cordoned off and excavators and trucks were working to clear it up.
Someone who was not met with good news was Sebastian Laband. He has lived in Åre for 40 years and is the main manager of the Pizza Lab restaurant that sells pizza, kebabs and fast food in Åre village.
– It was the sister who called. It’s only me and the creperie that are affected here, he says, adding:
– It wasn’t a pretty sight right away.
Closes after flooding
Sebastian Laband has not yet been allowed to enter the premises but has asked permission from the rescue service to save what is left.
– I’m going in here with a ladder now so I’ll check if we can give more stuff away or sell it. There won’t be any more business now, he says.
“Can look for another job”
He says that it will not be possible to conduct any business in the premises where the fast food restaurant was located.
– It’s not my property so there’s no problem, I can look for another job, says Sebastian Laband.
It is unclear how many houses were affected by the floods in Åre village, according to the rescue service. Work continues to pump out water from basements and parking lots in the area.
