A male wolf has been shot in Töllsjö in Västra Götaland. Thus, the county administration cancels the extended protection hunt in the area, reports P4 Sjuhärad.

The protective hunt was announced on July 22 after a wolf several times attacked and killed sheep in the area between Borås and Alingsås during the early summer. According to DNA analyses, a wandering, younger wolf from Södermanland was behind at least two of the attacks.

The wolf carried out the attacks despite the fact that there were proper fences around the sheep pens. In that situation, the county administrative board decided to shoot the wolf.
