In Pakistan, the dead bodies of 22 people were found in the train disaster. The army also stepped in to search and rescue those trapped in the wagons. Rescue teams have difficulties in their work because the accident site is far from residential areas. The train disaster in the country in 2021 came to mind.
FOLLOWING ON TWO OPPORTUNITIES
Pakistan Railways Minister Khavaja Saad Rafik announced that 10 wagons of the Hazara Expressi passenger train from Karachi to Rawalpindi derailed near Navabshah.
Rafik said the accident may have occurred as a result of “technical failure” or “sabotage”.
Local Police Chief Younas Chandio told reporters that the dead bodies of 22 people were found, while 50 injured were transferred to nearby hospitals.
THE ARMY IS INVOLVED
Army and paramilitary forces were called to the scene to assist in search and rescue efforts.
AWAY FROM REGIONAL SETTLEMENTS
On the other hand, search and rescue teams noted that they had difficulties in carrying out their activities and sending the injured to hospitals because the accident site was far from settlements.
THEY ARE STAINED IN WAGONS
While information on how many people were on the train at the time of the accident was not shared, the local press reported that many people were still trapped in the wagons and the death toll could increase.
NOT A FOREIGN TO TRAIN FACILITIES
In June 2021, 63 passengers were killed when two trains collided in Pakistan.
