On Friday evening, a woman fell out of a motorhome while traveling in Mosjøen in Norway and had to be taken to hospital. The driver did not notice anything and had made it several miles from the scene before the police caught up with him.
The police were alerted to the incident by a witness who saw the woman fall out of the mobile home in a roundabout near the police station in Mosjøen.
Ambulance and police quickly arrived at the scene and responded when they could not see a mobile home nearby.
Based on information from the woman, the driver could be identified and the police called him. He had then driven on for several miles.
– He hadn’t noticed that she had fallen out. He had tried to get in touch with her, but when she didn’t answer, he thought it was because she was listening to music in her headphones, says police operations leader Ivar Bo Nilsson.
The woman has stated that she went to the back of the mobile home to clear berries but lost her balance and fell against the back door handle causing the door to open and she fell out.
The driver has been tested and was not under the influence of alcohol. The police cannot say anything about the extent of the woman’s injuries.
– The lesson must be that you should always wear your seat belt when you sit in a car, says Nilsson.
