Fourteen professional French chess players published an open letter on August 3 to denounce the sexist and sexual violence they suffer. Verbal, written or physical violence that also affects female coaches, referees and leaders, from their male counterparts. They call on other women in the community to speak up and denounce these behaviors which, according to them, are the number one reason for abandoning chess among teenage girls.
