The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) report points out that Iran’s stock of 60 percent enriched uranium has almost doubled to 33.2 kilograms.
According to a senior diplomat, this amount, if enriched further, would equal three-quarters of the amount needed to make a nuclear bomb.
Officials from the USA, Iran and Europe stated that an agreement has not been reached yet, while some participants were optimistic about reaching an agreement.
Russia’s representative, Mikhail Ulyanov, who was the most optimistic participant in the statements he made to the public during the 11-month talks, said, “There are some issues that need to be resolved. Relatively minor details,” he said.
A spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that there is still work to be done. A White House official said that all parties are trying to clarify the most difficult issues.
Rafael Grossi, Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), is expected to arrive in Iran’s capital, Tehran, on Saturday.
