Crisis meeting after the shooting at Treffen – still closed

Since the shooting at Treffen last Friday, the recreation center has remained closed. Now it is clear that it will be closed for two more weeks, to introduce new security measures.

In the past, young people from 13 to 19 were welcome, but now everyone over 17 is allowed. A reception desk will also be opened to sign in and out all visitors.

– Borders have been crossed. Now we have to look at how we secure a safe environment for both staff and visitors, says Jens Brodin.

The work to provide the staff at Treffen with support continues.

No security guards

Fritidsgården must also increase its staffing from the opening in two weeks and as long as the need exists. However, there will not be any security guards at the leisure park.

– The meeting must be a free and open activity based on relationships. I think there are young people who choose not to come if we have security guards, says Jens Brodin.

Jens Brodin emphasizes that the shooting was aimed at a person inside Treffen and not at the business itself.
