Two soldiers in the US Navy have been arrested and accused of spying on behalf of China.
A 22-year-old soldier was arrested Wednesday in San Diego and is suspected of passing information about the US national defense to Chinese authorities. This shall, among other things, apply to technical manuals for warships.
A 26-year-old was arrested in the same city, suspected of having sent photographs and video footage of military exercises for payment since 2021. He is said to have allowed himself to be bribed to hand over the information and, unlike the 22-year-old, did not himself contact an employee within the Chinese the intelligence service.
The two are charged in different cases and it is unclear if the two acted together or if they are two completely separate cases.
