Barbie with Margot Robbie breaks the next record held by

Until recently, this blockbuster season was paved with a few expensive failures, some of which fell short of expectations in terms of quality. This affected films like Fast & Furious 10, The Flash and Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny. That’s why every record set by the unofficial double feature of the summer, Barbie and Oppenheimer, is watched with amazement. The latest writes cinema history.

Barbie overtakes Wonder Woman at the cash register

Greta Gerwig’s Barbie is the highest-grossing film by a solo female director. The previous record holder was Patty Jenkins’ DC extravaganza Wonder Woman, which grossed $821.8 million worldwide in 2017. Barbie has grossed around $850 million as of Wednesday, Deadline reports. This information is not adjusted for inflation. Considering the inflation rate, Barbie needs to make $1 billion to overtake Wonder Woman. Experts assume that Greta Gerwig’s film will reach the mark by next Monday.

I haven’t got it right yet [mit der Arbeit an Narnia] started, but I’m really scared of it, which is generally a good sign. […] If I’m not afraid, I might think, ‘Maybe I shouldn’t do this.’ I’m terrified of it. It is extraordinary. And it’s exciting.

    Barbie is in German cinemas.
